Unacademy, an education technology company raised $21 million i.e. near about Rs. 143 crores to expand its future education plans. The funding is raised in compilation from various ventures i.e. Sequoia capital, Nexus Venture Partner and Blume Ventures. It has raised the value of the company over $100 million.
The education platform helps educators to create online courses on various subjects. Unacademy covers wider range of small town educators like Dhriraj Singh Chouhan from Jagdalpur and Yasmin gill from Panchkula along with great influencer like Kiran Bedi.
Company CEO in an interview said that at their budding stage they had only one category of course, which was UPSC and now they have enough to call it playbook. They pledge to invest in product and technology to provide more and more courses.
Unacademy also runs YouTube page that has subscribers over 2 million till date. Company claims to grow more categories like JEE, banking exams and SSC in future which impresses the investors.
Today, unacademy also has its “plus” version in the market which offers live classes along with lesson making. The company has already been registered with 10,000 educators and over 3 million learners.
