Who doesn’t want a well decorative, perfectly arranged, cheerful ambiance at your place of living?  Well, I do. Wall stickers have done the job of providing distinct, colorful, unique and appealing look to the walls.

My Journey from rags to riches

Wall sticker business has witness such an unprecedented growth over the years. It would not be an exaggeration if the reason behind this mammoth growth is attributed to the rapidly growing urbanization and modernization. Interior designing has supplemented to their growth. They work with colors and unique decorative items to make the space of their client livable, pleasant and surreal.

An interior designer chooses and procure such unique, distinctive and eye treat items that is not to be found in the local market and beyond the reach of a middle class income group. Wait, wait wait!! Don’t think that to design your wall in accordance to your liking and preferences, you have to hire an interior designer which definitely require good amount of money and as a middle class income earner you just can’t hire an interior designer as a consequence you just can’t have your rooms decorated with different artistic items and lay your desires unfulfilled.

Don’t be dejected. Now are the times when there might be shortage in demand and needs but not in supply and abundance. We are here for your rescue. Two years ago, I, as an aspiring business entrepreneur, wondering which business will reap me profits, comes across many business ideas as a result of my market research on parameters being current demand, futuristic prospects, cost of production, profit margin, market share, mode of selling based on attracting large customer base, etc.

Consequently, selling decorative items for interiors comes out as the brilliant option to go for with the rising growth graph in the near future. That’s when I decided to go for the wall sticker business idea to start my business journey.

Things to think about

There are few things I kept in mind. One, that the share that rich people accounts for is only 10% approx. in the overall demand and these are the people who wouldn’t mind splurging handsome amount of money in buying such stuff. Also as I was a fresher in the business along with low capital investment budget and going for this business doesn’t seem plausible. So I dropped the plan.

My advice would be if you want to serve the rich class come with luggage of exponential capital budget along with the specialization and distinctive aspects and ideas to gain a strong foot in this business. Second thing which comes to my mind is, with the country accounting for more than 50% share of the middle class income earner, they are fast moving towards urbanization and modernization.

This is the class that yearns and strive to enjoy lifestyle resembling luxurious lot. Maintaining pleasant interior with different themes and artistry comes prior to their mind and rising aspiring then how my wall sticker business gets a thumbs up. As a result, this is the class that going be my targeted audience. Thirdly, you need to keep in mind is to drive up the sales, don’t let yourself go static. You have to be consistently constantly with changing demands and trend. This alone with help you move. Fourthly, I thought also about low middle income earners, who shift from places to places, I made a sticky wall stickers that can be easily taken off and can be easily put up on the walls while offering an affordable price range.

Speaking from experience, these are the advices that I would like you to pay attention.

Mode of selling

According to credible studies, every year there is significant rise in the percentage of online shoppers. All credits of my wall sticker business to laudable digitized world. I was using social media platforms earlier and I knew that it is the best way to generate humongous traffic for your business. All I did was created Facebook and Instagram account for sales of my wall sticker business. I posted pictures of different products along with details. Also I forwarded the link to my friends and family on the social media platform.

Referrals play a significant role in spreading the word. A lot much gratitude to them that I got my first sale assignment through them. To transform window shoppers to actual customers, discount is a major driver. Discounts boost your sales. Give some discount on first orders, festival discounts, etc. Today, are the times where my business has reached to such heights that I don’t need referrals and products alone with drive my sales.

This mode proved beneficial for me as I don’t have to maintain a well-furnished physical store which will cost me sound renting amount, staff to handle the customers, overhead charges of electricity, air conditioning, transportation etc. Online mode suited me the best as it cuts on huge expenses. All I need to do is to take care of production operation, a warehouse, and a robust shipping facility by contacting a delivery service operator. Don’t forget to have a robust customer grievance redressal mechanism to keep your customer base intact.

If you are new in this business, I would recommend you to conduct market research, know each aspect well in advance and do the maths on the feasibility of the operation to begin with. If this goes well, every other aspect will fall into place.
