What Table Shape Works Best for Restaurants?

The great thing about starting a restaurant these days is that you are quite spoiled for choice. That’s because you have a wide range of companies and manufacturers all of whom put a unique spin into your furniture that is quite vital if you want to try to make yourself stand out. Not only can you pick out numerous different materials that you want your furniture to be made out of, you can decide on what shape you want these tables to conform to as well which is a consideration that can be surprisingly pivotal if you don’t know that already.

Different table shapes come with their own sets of advantages, and there are three options that you can choose from in this regard. Searching for and discovering top notch commercial furniture can be a very effective way for you to ensure that your business would still be up and running after some time has passed, and you’d be amazed at just how much of a difference various table shapes can make. There are three shapes that are most common among tables for restaurants, and each of these can be useful for you in their own way.

These three shapes are square, round and rectangular. All of them are relatively popular, but that doesn’t mean that you should treat them equally. After all, square tables are known for very different things than round tables, and it’s useful to judge them based on their individual characteristics. If we were to start off with the example of square tables, these ones are generally known for being quite flexible. You can place them separately so that couples can stay seated and get a little bit of privacy, but they can also be moved around quickly to ensure that each customer gets the kind of experience they deserve.

Round tables, on the other hand, can be well suited to smaller spaces. For one thing, your patrons would be able to get seated more easily because there are no corners that they would need to deal with. Corners can become quite troublesome if your restaurant’s dining space is a bit too cramped, and if you can’t afford a larger location you’ll need to consider what you can do to make the most of what you do have in your possession. Tables that are rounded can help you avoid some of the pitfalls of compact areas.

You can usually seat more people at a round table than a square one. Most square tables are designed for a maximum of four occupants, but with round tables this can potentially go up to five or even six based on the size of the table. This table shape is perfect for casual dining places as well as if you’re attempting to give off a modern, minimalist look. Square tables are also well suited to these kinds of stylistic preferences, although they are more versatile in that they can be used for fine dining as well.

An added advantage of round tables is that their lack of corners make them less prone to breakage. Corners are the most common parts of a table that break first, so you’d likely face less damage if all of your tables around. Additionally, round tables are very aesthetically pleasing in outdoor settings, so if your restaurant has one of those you might want to try them out. However, it should also be noted that the larger a round table gets, the less effective its roundness would be as far as restaurants are concerned. If you’re looking for the biggest table available, you might want to try the final of the three most popular table shapes instead of buying a round one.

This is, of course, the rectangular table. A time honored staple of home dining rooms and large scale restaurants alike, these tables are ideal if you’re trying to open up a buffet restaurant. You can arrange your buffet offerings on this rectangular table without any danger of it collapsing. Restaurants that tend to cater to large families and similarly sized groups of customer should definitely have a few rectangular tables to supplement their other offerings.

Another advantage of rectangular tables is that they create much more linear space. This gives your patrons the chance to get seated comfortably without having to walk all over each other. However, one thing that you should know is that square tables can be used in this manner as well. It’s all a matter of joining them up to make them adhere to rectangular table dimensions.

While it might require a bit more effort on your part, you can get by just fine if all you have is a set of square tables and the like. You can arrange them in a row if you suddenly have a party of customers that want to be seated together, but if you want to avoid having to constantly shuffle and adjust your furniture settings you should try to have at least a few rectangular tables on hand as well.

The simple truth is that there is no catch-all answer for which table shape would be most ideal for you. That depends entirely on the kind of restaurant you are hoping to operate as well as various other considerations such as your available space, the layout of your dining area as well as what customers you are hoping to cater to. One thing that we can confidently tell you is that it pays to have a variety of options so that you’re always prepared for any eventualities that might arise. If you can afford it, try to incorporate each table shape into your interior design.
