The two substances will react in your pipes and disintegrate a blockage. Of course, this is assuming the blockage is in the P trap just under the sink.

Take the Trap Apart

If the clog hasn’t shifted you can unscrew the trap under your sink. You should wear gloves when doing this and make sure you have a bucket underneath to catch the wastewater.

Perhaps the best tip you can get is to avid drain cleaners. They are tempting, you simply pour some chemical into the drain, wait a little while, and the clog should be cleared.

However, these chemicals are powerful, while clearing the clog they are likely to do damage to the inside of your pipes. If you use them too many times it can actually cause your pipes to rupture.

It is flexible enough to go around the bends but strong enough to punch through clogs. This makes it an effective approach.
